Built by a nursery owner, for nurseries
Funding Loop was founded in 2017 by a team that includes a practising nursery owner and a group of senior software engineers with backgrounds in enterprise technology and investment banking.
The idea came directly from experience - the founders were frustrated by how time-intensive and costly the manual funding declaration process was firsthand. But rather than accept that as an unavoidable part of running a nursery, they built a solution.
Funding Loop was developed from the ground up to solve a real operational problem using modern web technologies and software engineering best practices.
Why Funding Loop exists
Every term, thousands of nurseries across England go through the same process: collecting paper forms from parents, manually entering data into local authority portals, and chasing parents who have not yet returned their declarations. For many settings, this represents days of staff time.
On top of that, errors in that process have real financial consequences. An expired eligibility code, a mismatched date of birth, or a missing section on a parental declaration form can result in a funding claim being rejected or reduced, and nurseries lose income they are entitled to through no fault of their own.
Funding Loop was built to remove that risk. By streamlining the declaration process from end-to-end, it gives nurseries back the time they were spending on admin and helps protect the funding they are entitled to claim.
The team behind the platform
Funding Loop was built by a team with deep technical experience in enterprise software development. The founding directors have backgrounds from senior roles in investment banking technology, with experience building high-volume, compliance-critical systems at major financial institutions.
Nurseries using Funding Loop are handling sensitive parent and child data, submitting claims to local authorities, and relying on the platform to get calculations right every term. The same rigour that goes into building financial systems, where accuracy and data integrity are non-negotiable, has shaped how Funding Loop was built.
The platform uses modern web technologies and established software engineering best practices, developed iteratively in close collaboration with nurseries from the outset.
Where we are today
Since launching in 2017, Funding Loop has grown to serve over 2,500 nurseries across England, from single independent settings to the largest nursery groups in the country, including more than 80% of the top 25 nursery groups in the UK.
Funding Loop works across the full range of local authority portal systems used in England, including Capita, Synergy, and Liquid Logic, and integrates with most of the major nursery management systems in the sector.
